On
May 1, 2003 Bush participated in a shameless,
totally staged photo
op aboard the aircraft carrier, Abraham
Lincoln and told the nation that "combat
operations in Iraq were over." Just another
lie! Instead, we are in a real quagmire in Iraq
with no real or foreseeable exit strategy, with
more soldiers killed since this photo op than
were killed prior to it. But there's still more.
At a press conference on Tuesday, October 28,
2003, in response to a reporter's question about
the original banner that said: Mission Accomplished,
Bush claimed that the Navy [members of the Abraham
Lincoln] put it up, stating: "I know it
was attributed some how to some ingenious advance
man from my staff -- they weren't that ingenious,
by the way." Now the White House is scrambling
to dig themselves out of yet another Bush lie.
Yes, the Navy did hang the banner but the idea
and production of the "Mission Accomplished"
banner as a backdrop for Bush's speech was hatched
by the White House.
We
think our banner best sums up the situation
in Iraq including the lies told by the Bush
Administration that got us into this mess.
